Personal Care Support provides non-medical, hands-on assistance to individuals who require help with activities of daily living due to age, disability, illness, or functional limitations. Services are designed to promote dignity, safety, comfort, and independence while allowing the client to remain in their home environment. Personal Care Support is provided according to an individualized service plan and within the staff member’s training and scope of practice.
Personal Care Support services may include the following non-medical assistance, as authorized in the service plan:
Assistance with bathing, showering, and personal hygiene
Grooming assistance (oral care, hair care, shaving with electric razor only)
Dressing and undressing assistance
Toileting assistance and incontinence care
Assistance with mobility and positioning
Transfers using proper techniques and approved equipment (if trained)
Assistance with eating and hydration (no tube feeding)
Skin care observation and reporting concerns (no treatment)
Basic observation and reporting of changes in condition
All tasks must be performed with respect for client dignity, privacy, and safety.
Personal Care Support does not include medical, skilled, or clinical services. The following are not authorized:
Medication administration, reminders, or management
Medical assessments, treatments, or procedures
Skilled nursing or therapy services
Wound care, injections, or catheter care
Tube feeding or oxygen management
Behavioral restraint or crisis intervention
Diagnosing medical conditions
Tasks not listed in the service plan or outside staff training
Provider reserves the right to refuse tasks that are unsafe, unauthorized, or beyond scope.
